WAITING FOR GODOT

I saw the Roundabout Theater Company's new Broadway production of Waiting For Godot featuring Bill Irwin, Nathan Lane, John Goodman and John Glover last night.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

I was out working most of today and I have a really early show tomorrow morning so I'll write more about it this weekend but I'll say this now... go!

If you do nothing else in your life, go! Now!

Do not miss this.

THOM WHEATON & TODD ZIMMERMAN

Thom & Todd, partners through seven years on Ringling and several years since at Sea World in Orlando, FL. Ringmaster Mike Naughton's camera caught them backstage at their Shrine Circus debut last weekend in Canton, OH where I've been told by several folks in attendance that they were a huge success.

I expect that my personal invitation to perform will arrive from Princess Stephanie any day now. I know that there has been a lot of talk over there about my brilliant fright wig reprise being the centerpiece of the next festival.

I'll have to check my schedule. It may conflict with the Grand Opening of a Pizza Hut that I've been in discussions with.

ROBB ZEISER: Club de Payasos Espanoles y Circus Artistas

Hi Pat!

I had the honor of being a guest at "The Club de Payasos Espanoles y Circus Artistas" in Madrid. Our hosts were beyond gracious and made me feel very welcome. I loved spending my time there looking at all the portraits and listening to their stories.

Warm Regards,
Robb Zeiser

THE DAILY LAMA

A young man caught a small bird, and held it behind his back. He then asked, "Master, is the bird I hold in my hands alive or dead?" The boy thought it was a grand opportunity to play a trick on the old man. If the master answered "dead,"it would be let loose in the air. If the master answered "alive," he would simply wring its neck. The master spoke, "The answer is in your hands."

BABY CASHIN

My wife Terry and I would like to thank the five blog viewers who wrote in yesterday to point out something about our unborn child that we hadn't noticed...

we don't know yet if it's a boy or a girl but it does look to be a
"Lou-theran"

No, the photo isn't doctored and it wasn't part of any April Fool's joke on our part.

It does clearly show that the baby has a very healthy sense of humor and knows how to make an excellent first impression on Dad ; )

RINGLING: 138th Edition Blue Unit

I was invited down to Baltimore yesterday to see the Ringling 138th edition, now in it's second year, at the 1st Mariner Center by two time clownalley.net award winner Mr. Tom Dougherty. We had a chance to hang out for a bit before. I gave Tom some videos and he gave me some incredible slides taken in 1979 that I have to drop off and have transferred today.

I also had a chance to catch up with Marketing Director (and Dad-to-be) Dan Bennett who I remember well from our days together doing advance for the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus, said "hi" to Jenny Vidbel and hope to see her again in May when she comes to visit Circus Vidbel and got to meet some old friends and new in the current Clown Alley.

The show is looser than it was last year, in a very good way. It's a lot of fun.

Afterwards Tom and I joined circus historian Dick Flint and local "Squire of the Wire" Michael Rosman for dinner and a grand time was had by all, especially after Michael left ; )

CLOWN ALLEY: Horse Race Gag, Ringling-Barnum (1968)

Lou Jacobs, Mark Anthony and Lazlo Donnert getting ready for Mark's Horse Race Gag.

Lou ran around the track in 1968??? Wasn't there ANYBODY who could have done that for him?

And I wonder if they stuck around to catch Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians?

BILLY BAKER: News from Chatanooga, TN

From my pal, Mr. Billy Baker...

"We have just opened our '09 season and the seeds planted last year are starting to bloom.

Check out TripAdvisor.com (the internet's leading tour and travel review website) in the search box type in: Jukebox Junction Theater Chattanooga , and see what comes up. You can read some wonderful sentiments left behind by guests, and you'll notice the tourists believe we are the #1 attraction in town....I believe we'll catch the current and ride. In the meantime, I'll keep dropping my drawers.

A hug to Shane....he's growing up. I love his "toofy" look....my granddaughter, Chloe, is the same age....my, how they resemble each other.... "

A hug to you.................................love,
Smoooooooooooch
For more info on Billy's show please visit jukeboxjunctiontheater.com

If you haven't seen him before, there is no better showman than Billy.
If you have, you don't need me to tell you about him!

"Laziness will stop your progress in your spiritual practice. One can be decieved by three types of laziness: the laziness of indolence, which is the wish to procrastinate; the laziness of inferiority, which is doubting your capabilities; and the laziness that is attached to negative actions, or putting great effort into nonvirtue."

WHITEFACE PHOTO SHOOT

A photo by Evan Young of another Lancaster, PA photographer shooting me last week. It felt good to slap on the Mehron like that again. I haven't worn my Ringling whiteface in about 10 years. I left off my nose and painted on one like Bill Ballentine had. When mixed with my auguste costume it gives the whole thing a very Frosty Little-like vibe. Maybe I should call the Felds and tell them that I'm available to be Boss Clown of both units, I'm now old enough and have the suit ; )

MUSIQUE DU LA TOILET

I don't know if my posting this says more about my mood today than it should but "Soul Bossa Nova" played on the john sums up just about everything you need to know.

THE NEW BABY FUND: Tramp Suit

FOR SALE:

One Betty Cash "Rag Tramp" suit with improvements made by Mary Derosier. The pants were worn during my very first Shrine Circus dates for John McConnell's Circus Royale. I had plans to create a classic tramp clown character but this suit never seems to leave the closet. It's time to move it out. I'm losing my "clown room" this spring and it's turning back into a nursery this summer for a baby coming this fall. No more "maybe someday" projects; everything that isn't currently being used has got to go!

Price: $300.

PETER SCHIFF: Who's Laughing Now?

Reposted from Mark Evanier's NEWS FROM ME

"Peter Schiff is the head guy at Euro Pacific Capital Inc., a Connecticut-based brokerage firm. Throughout '07 and '08, he appeared on cable news shows, mainly on Fox, to air his dire views of the economy. He was a "token" bear amidst the bulls, usually being mocked or told he didn't know what he was talking about. Here's a little montage of him being essentially right when everyone else was essentially wrong."

NICE!
